Waybill Chargeable Weight
Chargeable Weight
Air freight billing considers not only the actual weight of the package but also its dimensions, which is commonly referred to as volumetric weight.
- a. The chargeable weight will compare the actual weight and volumetric weight of each package, taking the greater of the two values.
- For example, if the actual weight of a package is 3.1kg and the volumetric weight is 2.1kg, then the chargeable weight of this package will be 3.1kg, rounded up to the nearest 1kg, which is 4kg.
- b. The chargeable weight of a waybill is the sum of the chargeable weights of each package within that waybill.
- c. The international logistics volumetric weight calculation method is: Length (cm) * Width (cm) * Height (cm) / 5000.
- The first weight for consolidation lines is 1kg. If less than 1kg, it will be calculated as 1kg. For example, a package with a chargeable weight of 1.3kg will be calculated as 2kg.
Example:
For instance: Xiao Ming wants to send two packages to the same recipient.
Package 1 has an actual weight of 4KG and a volumetric weight of 36(cm)*35(cm)*30(cm)/5000 = 7.56. Therefore, the chargeable weight for Package 1 will be calculated as 8KG.
Package 2 has an actual weight of 10KG and a volumetric weight of 36(cm)*35(cm)*30(cm)/5000 = 7.56. Therefore, the chargeable weight for Package 2 will be calculated as 10KG.
Thus, the total chargeable weight for Xiao Ming’s waybill will be 8KG + 10KG = 18KG.
